What we already do
Environmental protection
We are aware that our sport and our events can only take place in an intact environment. Through the donation for a regional conservation project, we would like to make a small contribution to protecting this environment together with the WWF.
The donations generated will benefit our long-standing partner, the WWF and its "Forests of the Future in the Uckermark" project. The Uckermark is extraordinarily rich in natural treasures. As part of the project, the WWF creates and maintains mixed forests but also lakes, streams and moors.
Green Mobility
In addition to a bus shuttle from Berlin-Alexanderplatz, we have organised the start times of the SwimRun so that it is also possible to travel by train.
We want to offer attractive and sustainable travel alternatives for all participants. Thus, for the SwimRun Rheinsberg we offer a bus shuttle from Berlin-Alexanderplatz directly to the start and finish area. The shuttle can easily be booked in the registration portal. We have also deliberately scheduled the start times of the event so that it is possible to travel by train. If you are travelling by car, you can contribute to a more sustainable event by carpooling.
Refreshment points
Reducing waste is one of our top priorities. That's why we don't hand out cups at the refreshment points or in the start and finish areas.
Instead, we encourage our participants to use their own cup or hydration system. Alternatively, participants can purchase a so-called SoftCup in the registration portal, which is a lightweight, portable cup that can also be used at other events.
We move Berlin and the world
Especially in these days of waning physical inactivity and more and more people facing physical and mental issues, we are creating awareness for sport and health, more physical and mental fitness and thus more enthusiasm and joy in life for participants of all ages and abilities.
It is particularly important to us to introduce children and young people to sport and exercise. Therefore, we have created the Family Fun SwimRun and the Youth SwimRun as offers specifically for 6- to 15- and 11- to 17-year-olds.
Local value creation
Wherever possible, we also favour regional service providers and producers for our event. This year, for the first time, we are offering completely regional race nutrition in the form of strawberries and potatoes.
Every year, the SwimRun Rheinsberg attracts numerous participants and spectators. Thereby, we create considerable economic value and increased awareness of the region and in particular of our local partner, the Seehotel Rheinsberg. The completely barrier-free hotel belongs to the Fürst Donnersmarck Foundation, which stands for overcoming social barriers and inclusive coexistence.
Saving resources
We design all sponsor banners, beach flags and buoys at SwimRun Rheinsberg so that we can reuse them.
Only when banners show signs of wear after a few years do we have new ones made.
